The Space Needle turns 50.

50 years ago, in April 21, 1962, the Space Needle opened as part of the 1962 World's Fair. Happy 50th birthday to one of my favorite buildings. This will probably be the last of this string of posts commemorating various historical anniversaries, they've just been come one after the other lately.

The Simpsons turn 25.

25 years ago today, on April 19, 1987, the first Simpsons cartoon aired on the Tracy Ullman Show. The Simpsons got their own full half hour show in 1989. The show is now in its 23rd season and has aired over 500 episodes. Certainly one of the most impressive runs of any TV show.
